Stevens Pass Bike Park shut the trails down to the public this weekend to welcome the 2nd annual visit of the NW Cup mountain bike series.

 The infamous Slingshot Wookie  trail switchbacks down through gnarly woods and steep drops and put racers through the paces, leaving some victorious and others… not so much. Leavenworth locals stood on the podium in several categories, representing our strong local bike community. Kris Melton won the men’s Category 2 30- 39  division, despite being held back by the rider in front of him, the stubborn racer refusing to let him pass.

Julie Istvan took 2nd place in the women’s Category 1 heats, coming in with a time that nearly would have placed her in the pro division. Corbin Crimmons brought home the silver in mens’s Catagory 2 40-49, beating down a bunch of hard core old dudes. Thing’s are not what they once were. Give it up for the local shredders!
