Lilia Grundy speaks about new developments and the upcoming groundbreaking on the new Snowy Owl Theater.

Colockum_03042012-3_150x100We caught up with Lilia Grundy, Marketing Director for Icicle Creek Center for the Arts to find out about the new changes happening at Icicle Creek, sister property to the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort in Leavenworth.   Located at the base of the Icicle Canyon against a stunning alpine backdrop, the property consists of wooded cabins, meandering paths, and the Canyon Wren Recital Hall-a glass walled performance center that houses performances by visiting musicians.

2012 is proving to be a very exciting year for Icicle Creek, as they will be breaking ground on a new theater and expanding their current musical offerings.  Their upcoming calendar is packed with events including the upcoming Vox Docs Film Festival, Comedy Cabaret, and renowned piano soloist Naomi Niskala in concert.   This summer, we will be looking forward to the outdoor Bluegrass festival and can’t think of a much better place to hear some picking under the sun.

Icicle Creek attracts renowned artists from around the world, but local artists and musicians can also benefit from the many retreats and workshops held throughout the year.   Learning experiences for children include the Summer Symphony Program and the Young Artists Theater Camp, offering attendees the opportunity to stay on campus for two weeks and study with faculty from around the country.  They also offer an adult piano camp that typically runs in the fall for pianists looking to polish their skills and gain confidence in performing.

A tip to our readers and a little known secret about Icicle Creek is that, when not in use, their cabins are for rent…and at an astonishingly low rate.  The cabins have king sized beds and two even have kitchenettes, making them a perfect place for out of town guests to stay, or as a treat for yourself after attending an event.  Inquire directly with Icicle Creek Center for the Arts (these book separately from the Sleeping Lady).
