Get pumped! Literally! Say “Hello!” to the new, fully-paved and world-class-level Leavenworth Pump Track!

Designed and built by Velosolutions based in Switzerland, this is only the second pump track they’ve built in the United States (the first was in Brooklyn, New York), with many others in locations such as Switzerland and Thailand to name a few. Construction in Leavenworth began on Monday, May 9, 2016 in Enchantment Park following a year-long effort by the Blue Lotus Foundation. Previously home to several baseball fields and a jungle gym/kids playground, Enchantment now has this new attraction that is already a huge hit with the local community.

The Leavenworth Pump Track is the inaugural project for the Blue Lotus Foundation, a nonprofit based in Leavenworth, who’s mission and raison d’être is to cultivate communities and individuals to become passionate explorers, lovers of the outdoors, and stewards of the environment through outreach, education, and community projects. The pump track beautifully encompasses and encapsulates that mission. After swift backing by the City of Leavenworth, including the donation of this piece of land in Enchantment Park, the project saw a whirlwind of support from area businesses, recreation groups, and the Leavenworth community.

On Friday, May 13th, 2016 the pump track was unveiled and shredded by some pro-riders (Jill Kintner & Bryn Atkinson) to show off what can be done with some practice, skill, and dedication (and a really good bike). The pump track is open to the public free of charge from dawn to dusk year-round, or as long as it’s free of snow and ice during the winter months. The decision was made early on to make it a paved pump track as opposed to leaving it as just dirt so that those who ride skateboards, scooters, and skates can also enjoy it, not just bikes. So grab your wheels and go check it out!

DONATIONS ARE STILL BEING ACCEPTED TO MEET THE FUNDING GOALS
While the Leavenworth Pump Track is now open for riding, the Blue Lotus Foundation still has a little bit of funds to raise to finalize the project and is looking to the community for a little more help. To learn more about making a donation contact the Blue Lotus Foundation, and while you’re at it, go ahead and Like the Leavenworth Pump Track Facebook page.

A huge THANK YOU to Velosolutions and everyone involved who helped make this dream a reality!
