empty_bowls_thumb_120x68The 2012 Empty Bowls Soup Supper is tomorrow night, March 22nd, at Cascade High School in Leavenworth.  Empty Bowls has grown over the years to become one of the most popular local events in town and it’s a great way to have a good time and help a worthwhile cause.

The concept is simple-bring together local artists and allow participants to purchase and paint handmade bowls then wrap it all up with a great soup dinner.   All proceeds go to the local food bank, the Community Cupboard, and also help to support are in schools.

So…it’s a win win.   You get to eat a good bowl of soup with a bunch of your friends and community members, then walk away with your hand painted bowl and help out those in need.  If you missed out on the painting days, you can still get in on the action by purchasing a bowl of soup (sans bowl) for $5.  Tickets are available at A Book For All Seasons.

Local artists also paint handmade bowls and offer them up for auction.  You can check these out and bid at : www.uvmend.org.

More information on the event can also be found at the Upper Valley Mend website at :www.uvmend.org

The video below was filmed by Decanter Banter during one of the painting sessions at the Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort and features many of the beautiful bowls as well as participants painting their creations.

The 2012 Leavenworth Empty Bowls Painting Days took place in January. Almost 600 people showed up at the Sleeping Lady Resort over a 5 day period. There were amazing artists, budding artists, and artist wanabes that painted bowls and socialized.
