Did you know that there are changes to the Enchantment entrance permit process? In the past, the Forest Service held an annual lottery for overnight entrance permits which were then picked up in person the morning of the trip. Any unfilled slots were given away daily on a first come first service basis, again in person and with no guarantee of availability to those that missed out on the lottery.

As of April 1st 2013, permits no longer require a trip to the Ranger Station. According to their website, unconfirmed/unfilled dates from the 2013 lottery will be available for reservations with dates being filled on a first come, first served. Permits may be printed online, meaning there is no longer a need to pick up a permit at the Ranger Station.
